In 1893, Henrietta Swan Leavitt, a pioneering scientist whose discoveries opened the galaxies, and her female coworkers at Harvard Observatory are human “computers.” They measure the stars. They are not allowed to touch a telescope, yet Henrietta makes significant observations of the universe and changes how we look at the heavens and the earth.
